The Griffin girls’ soccer team qualified for the NSAA Class B State Championship this afternoon with their 4-0 win against the Gretna Dragons at the District Finals game. The Griffins shut out the Dragons, scoring four points.

The Griffins will compete for the State title on May 14 at 12 p.m. on Morrison Stadium, located at the Creighton University campus.

In addition to the win this game, senior Kendall Dobberstein broke the Class B state record for career assists, having 62 total.

Brayden Hansen, Managing Editor

Brayden Hansen is a junior at Gretna East and this will be his second year on the Wingspan staff. This year he serves as the Wingspan’s Managing Editor. He is also on the Guardian Yearbook staff this year where he serves as the Copy Editor. Last year at the NSAA High School State Journalism competition, he won first place in Editorial Writing, which is also why he specializes in opinion and editorial writing here on staff. He also won four other awards at State. However, his love of op/ed is not why he originally joined the staff last year. Hansen wanted to be more involved in the school and also just liked writing and being creative. When he’s not writing persuasive op/ed pieces, Hansen hangs out with his friends and family, goes to Sonic and takes pictures of whatever he’s around. After high school, he plans to further his education at the collegiate level and get a degree in Journalism. See more awards here.
