With the writer’s strike, which ended on Sept. 24, and the actor’s strike, which ended Nov. 9, CBS’s summer staple, “Big Brother 25,” was delayed, concluding last week with Jag Bains winning by a 5-2 vote. The season averaged 3.23 million viewers according to TVSeriesfinale.com, a lead source for canceled and renewed TV show news and ratings. And while season 25 is over, the “Big Brother” Universe isn’t done for the year.
During a typical year, “Big Brother” hosts one season for around three months. However, during the live season finale of “Big Brother” season 25 on Nov. 9, show host Julie Chen Moonves showcased a short clip revealing a brand new holiday verse that has taken over the BB house. This universe will host the all-new series “Big Brother: Reindeer Games” set to premiere on Dec. 11. The show will contain six episodes released over a two-week period.
“Big Brother: Reindeer Games” will not resemble the typical “Big Brother” season. The game will have nine contestants of previous BB players, including one player from BB25.
Unlike the regular show, the contestants will not be voting each other out of the house. The contestants will compete in three competitions in each episode. This will end with a “Santa’s Showdown” competition, ultimately deciding who goes home. What these competitions contain has yet to be announced, but viewers can expect challenges similar to regular “Big Brother” seasons.
The season will be pre-filmed, which means no live shows. The contestants will also not be living in the BB house, meaning no live feeds throughout the season. Julie Chen Moonves will not be hosting this holiday season. Instead, previous BB players Jordan Lloyd, Derek Xiao and Tiffany Mitchell will be “Santa’s Elves” and help guide the contestants through the game.
This was announced by a short clip featuring Danielle Reyes, Britney Haynes and Frankie Grande breaking into the BB house. The trio was attempting to close the BB multiverse. In doing so, they accidentally unleashed this new holiday twist.
Being a shorter season, the prize money for winning has been reduced to $100,000 in comparison to the $750,000 that Bains just won. It hasn’t been announced yet if there will be an “America’s Favorite Houseguest” prize like a typical season.
The “Reindeer Games” are set to end on Dec. 21. Fans interested can tune in on CBS or Paramount+.
