Madeline Petrick, Editor-in-chief
Madeline, otherwise known as Madie, is a junior at Gretna East and is on her third year of being on a journalism staff. This is her second year as the Wingspan’s Editor-in-Chief.
As a freshman, Petrick took home first place in Entertainment Review Writing at the NSAA Class A High School State Journalism Championships. As a sophomore, she won four State awards.
As a junior she was named one of 2024’s Best Reporters and Best Photographers by Headliners in Education.
Aside from her involvement with Gretna East Media, she is the Public Relations Officer for student council, a National Honors Society member and is on the Gretna varsity swim team. Outside of school, she is a lifeguard and youth swim coach.
Due to her love of the field and nearly every aspect of it, Petrick hopes to pursue journalism after high school and eventually become a news anchor.
