Three finalists in the Gretna Public Schools superintendent search have been named by the GPS Board of Education after a special meeting was held yesterday. Today, they announced Travis Lightle, Dr. Devin Embray and Dr. Joshua McDowell as the finalists.
The three will interview with parents, staff, administrators, and community members on Thursday, Jan. 17, and Friday, Jan. 18. The Board will announce the next superintendent later this month.
Lightle is currently serving as the GPS Interim Superintendent. He has held this position since Dr. Rich Beran’s resignation last May. He has worked in the education field for 24 years, 20 of which have been with GPS.
In addition to Lightle’s experience, as GPS Interim Superintendent, the other two candidates, Embray and McDowell, also have experience as they are both current superintendents.
Embray has served as the superintendent for Glenwood Community Schools in Iowa since 2010. He has worked in the education administration field for 27 years.
McDowell has served as superintendent for Crete Public Schools in Nebraska since 2019. He has worked in the education field as a teacher or administrator for 20 years.
